Searching for a muse is difficult for this, especially when I take it out of the context of the song.
Rarely is such a high
experienced, and thus, rarely can someone say these words and avoid the slight of irony that often
accompanies. Live moment to
moment, this song says. Don't look back, this song says. I try not to, but I can't avoid it sometimes;
I still remember so many
things I would have done in high school, and I already have regrets about some things I've done in my
first semester in college--
too bad that sentiments have only been shackles on my ankles. My tendency to look back has prevented
me from being excited about
anything at all; I miss out on the emotions that Dr. Jekyll feels in this song.
Special thanks to Ben Kaye's parents for recording. :) And to Ben himself for putting them up on YouTube:
DrowsyKaye has the videos of the entire show up there. http://www.youtube.com/user/DrowsyKaye

Well; here it is. I've waited a whole two weeks to see this video (oh no!!!) but I can tell you; I've sung this song many-a-time since the show. (I would have sung more if it weren't for "quiet" hours in the dorms, something I uniquely adhered to. :P)
I don't know what it is with this song. Frank Wildhorn writes Jekyll and Hyde. In the spirit of Wildhorn musicals, it loses money (great eh?) but the generic universal epicness that is This is the Moment carried over.
It's become quite famous. Barbershop quartets have arranged this song, every singer in the world loves to sing it, I'm no different. It's convenient that the song could be pulled right out of context and still inspire.
Good times, MTC...good times.
