Welcome to my Sports@La CoffeeMelodie Suite, where I'll give you my personal take on the world of sports, especially as it relates to my favorite teams and athletes. I'll write about things near and dear to me, and I invite you also to comment on anything sports-related, including- or especially- on what I've written.



I'm good at listening to people with whom I don't agree, so even if you're a Yankee fan, or a Laker fan or a New York Giant fan, I'll pay attention to you. I'm not like an English soccer hooligan (and I know it's not confined to England, but the image is strong) who goes beyond the bounds of healthy competition and resorts to vulgarities and violence toward opposing supporters.



Now, you may be asking yourself why you should pay any attention to me and my musings. That's a perfectly valid concern, and all I can do is tell you what I've got and leave the decision to you. So, here goes:



I am a lifelong sports fan, infected especially with the love of all Boston sports teams by virtue of having spent some of my youth there, as well as the fact that my father has been an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan since his childhood. I have played several sports adequately- not badly, but hardly exceptionally- including baseball, basketball, football, golf, tennis and bowling. Like millions, I have extensive expertise in yelling at the television during televised sporting events; and, like millions, I know more than the so-called "expert" commentators.



I have also spent a long period of my life living overseas in the beautiful Kingdom of Thailand, and this exposed me to other great athletic endeavors- soccer, rugby, cricket, (real) badminton, tagraw and others. If you don't know that last one, well...you're missing out on something great.
